Far Eastern Electronic Toll Collection Completes Carbon Inventory Ahead of Schedule and Passes Verification

Facing the severe challenges brought by global climate change and the warnings from the WEF World Economic Forum's 2025 Global Risk Report about increasingly frequent extreme weather events, Far Eastern Electronic Toll Collection (FETC) has actively engaged in environmental sustainability actions. To this end, FETC conducted ISO 14064-1 greenhouse gas inventory for the first time in 2024, covering more than 300 highway electronic gantries across Taiwan, and successfully passed third-party verification in 2025, demonstrating the company's high regard for climate change issues and practical action.

According to the "Sustainability Development Roadmap for Listed Companies" issued by the Financial Supervisory Commission in January 2022, all listed companies must complete greenhouse gas inventory by 2027 and verification by 2029. Although FETC is not a listed company, it proactively completed inventory and verification work ahead of schedule, showing its firm commitment to carbon reduction actions, hoping to inspire more enterprises to pay attention to and invest in environmental sustainability, working together toward a net-zero future.

Introducing "DCarbon" System to Improve Inventory Efficiency

During this inventory process, with the guidance of Sustaihub and its self-developed "DCarbon" greenhouse gas inventory system, FETC was able to significantly improve data inventory accuracy and shorten operation time, quickly completing extensive inventory including more than 300 highway ETC gantries across Taiwan, laying the foundation for subsequent carbon reduction planning. This system differs from traditional manual inventory methods by not only greatly improving data inventory accuracy but also shortening overall operation time, enabling FETC to quickly complete inventory and pass third-party verification while also laying a solid foundation for subsequent carbon reduction planning and analysis.

It is worth mentioning that this inventory not only covered all office locations across Taiwan but also included all 300+ highway ETC gantries in the inventory scope, involving collection and analysis of massive gantry equipment emission data. The successful completion of such an extensive inventory scope within limited time fully demonstrates FETC's determination and execution capability in comprehensive carbon emission management.

Afnor Certification Ceremony Establishes Carbon Management Milestone

FETC held the "Greenhouse Gas Verification Statement Certification Ceremony" on April 15, 2025. The ISO 14064-1:2018 Greenhouse Gas Verification Statement was presented by Mr. Jiang Youtai, General Manager of Afnor Group Taiwan, the third-party verification unit, and received by Mr. Zhang Yongchang, General Manager of FETC. Mr. Li Zhenbei, CEO of Sustaihub, the guidance unit, also attended the ceremony, symbolizing an important milestone in carbon management cooperation between the two parties.

Passing the ISO 14064-1 verification not only proves FETC's outstanding achievements in environmental management and carbon reduction goals but also further strengthens its leadership position in intelligent transportation and green technology fields. In the future, FETC will continue to promote innovative carbon reduction solutions and work with partners to create a sustainable future.

Leading Smart Transportation and Green Innovation Technology

Passing the ISO 14064-1 verification also strengthens leadership in intelligent transportation and green technology fields. In addition to inventory work, FETC actively responds to the "Ministry of Environment Net-Zero Green Life" policy, working with the government and road users to create Taiwan's intelligent transportation ESG sustainable development.

Through digital technology promoting the construction of a green driving ecosystem, the ETC system promoted by our company demonstrates multiple environmental benefits: In addition to the national highway ETC helping reduce vehicle waiting time and carbon emissions, the "eTag Parking Deduction" feature further facilitates users by eliminating paper receipts and idling when entering/exiting parking lots, painlessly implementing energy conservation and carbon reduction in daily life, achieving the vision of low-carbon living. Looking to the future, FETC will continue to implement carbon management, deepen ESG governance, and work with stakeholders to create a new sustainable situation.
